
09 Dec Spiro attend Advances in Process Automation and Control 2019
In November, members of the Spiro Control team attended the IChemE “Advances in Process Automation and Control 2019” conference in Manchester, UK.

The conference welcomed a number of industrial partners and academics from the control community. Featured talks were delivered on emerging technologies, digital twin integration, sustainability, education and cyber security.
The Spiro team delivered talks and poster presentations including:
- Economic MPC for migrogrids, Andrew D. McGuire
- APC in society, Brian Neve (Spiro Control) and Howard Boder (NewLand Control)
- Using machine learning to detect valve stiction, Harrison O’Neil (Spiro PhD student, University of Chester)
The conference was also attended by Arkema’s Jerome Berjouan, who delivered a presentation on the application of Spiro MPC to an EthylAmine distillation train at Arkema’s La Chambre site. Jerome highlighted that the use of Spiro MPC had not only exceeded utility savings targets but the was also greatly received by the site operators.
